Swedish Massage
One of the most commonly taught and well-known massage techniques. Swedish massage is a vigorous system of treatment designed to energize the body by stimulating circulation. Five basic strokes. all flowing toward the heart. are used to manipulate the soft tissues of the body. The many benefits of Swedish massage may include generalized relaxation. dissolution of scar tissue adhesions and improved circulation. which may speed healing and reduce swelling from injury.

Sports/Deep Tissue Massage
Consists of specific components designed to reduce injuries. such as alleviating inflammation and providing a warm-up for amateur and professional athletes before. during. after and within their training regimens. Techniques. which utilize deep tissue/deep muscle massage. are administered to affect the sub-layer of musculature and fascia. These techniques require more advanced training and a more thorough understanding of anatomy and physiology. The muscles must be relaxed in order to effectively perform deep tissue massage. otherwise tight surface muscles prevent the practitioner from reaching deep musculature. It helps with chronic muscular pain and injury rehabilitation. and reduces inflammationrelated pain caused by arthritis and tendonitis. Generally integrated with other massage techniques.

Acupressure
In combination with therapeutic massage. using the fingers, trigger points on the surface of the skin are pressed to stimulate the body's natural self-curative abilities. When these points are pressed. they release muscular tension and promote the circulation of blood and the body's lifeforce to aid in healing. The healing touch of acupressure reduces tension. increases circulation and enables the body to relax deeply.

Reiki The combination of universal energy with individual energy to open the pathways of healing. The practitioner. trained to access and serve as a channel for the life energy. uses a passive touch that some clients experience with a warmth or tingling. The hands remain in position for 3-5 minutes, alternately covering 10-12 positions over the body. |
